Gary Barber

Executive, Producer. Barber spent seven years at Price Waterhouse as a member of the entertainment specialty group. From Price Waterhouse, Barber served at Producers Sales Organizations. He became pres. of Vestron International Group, which was the largest independent video company in the world. During his tenure at Vestron, Barber acquired and distributed many international hits including The Princess Bride, Young Guns, Hamburger Hill, and Dirty Dancing. From Vestron, Barber became the vice chairman and COO of Morgan Creek Productions. During his eight and a half years at the company, he was in charge of all day-to-day operations for each of Morgan Creeks business entities including feature film production, foreign distribution, music, exhibition and interactive. In 1998, Barber, with partner Roger Birnbaum, founded Spyglass Entertainment, where he currently is co-chairman and co-CEO with Birnbaum. Barber has produced or executive produced over 50 feature films and TV shows including the 1994 hit that rocketed Jim Carrey to stardom, -Ace Ventura: Pet Detective,- and its successful sequel, -Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls.- Spyglass has enjoyed phenomenal box office success with films like The Sixth Sense, which grossed over $661 million and garnered six Academy Award® nominations. After an 11-year run, co. execs sold DreamWorks SKG to Paramount Pictures in 2006. The transaction included more than $1 billion in cash and the assumption of DreamWorks' debt. Spielberg signed an employment contract to continue directing for the studio, which will continue producing films under the DreamWorks label. The Walt Disney Company, Disney will handle marketing and distribution of the studio's films around the world, except for India where Reliance subsidiary Reliance Big Entertainment will retain distribution rights.
